This trailer is a 2002, 5 years old name brand trailer (not a Fontaine). Instead of the owner having his trailer loan paid off, and in a position of being able to run the trailer another 5 years with no loan payment, they have a trailer that has rusted so bad that the main beams have to be plated with new steel on both beams, inside and out just to make the trailer usable. This trailer’s main beams were so rusted, that they were like Swiss cheese. You can see the mechanic holding the crossmembers that were cut out of the trailer, that are rusted till there is almost nothing left to look at. When this company had the trailer loan come to an end, the trailer had no value. This is a common sight on this brand of trailer. The low grade steel, and the poor paint quality add us to what you see here in just a few years. This trailer was not on any special run that made this happen, this trailer spent most of its life running in the central states hauling lumber. Buying quality products may cost a few pennies more up front, but you will save many dollars over the life of the product.
Fontaine is known for only using the highest quality steel, shot blasted clean, self etching primer, and two full coats of electrostaticly applied epoxy paint. This protects the trailer from what you see in these pictures. Don’t let this happed to you!
